Guidelines for authors

 

"inAW Journal" publishes information on multidisciplinary scientific activities concerning the topics related to art, fashion, humanities, and technology.

I. General information:

1. The article must be an original work, i.e., it has not previously been published in another journal or been the subject of editorial proceedings in another journal.

2. The topics of the article should be related to the leading theme of the Journal.

3. An article can be assigned to one of the three types of articles published in the Journal, i.e.:

  • Art research paper (presentation of the results of scientific research or the effects of the Author's artistic creativity).
  • Review paper - a critical and problematic summary of scientific research results or artistic work of a review nature)
  • Case study - an analytical study of a selected example of a work, product, design/art process, or application of research results).

4. The text should be saved in an editable format (.doc, .docx, .odt or .rtf).

5. The text of the article should be anonymous and must not contain information about the Author (if there are problems with the anonymity of the text, please let us know when submitting it).

6. The text of the article should be submitted in Polish and English versions prepared in accordance with the guidelines.

II. Text composition and formatting

1. The text of the article should be composed according to the guidelines, i.e.: 

a) Title.
b) Subheading (if applicable).
c) Abstract (up to 1000 characters with spaces).
d) Keywords (max. 7).
e) Table of contents.
f) Body text (optionally divided into smaller sections with headings).
g) References.

2. The article should have a clear introduction, a structure appropriate to the content of the text, and a conclusion.

3. The text of the article should be formatted according to the guidelines, i.e.:

  • Format: A4.
  • Page orientation: vertical.
  • Font for titles and headings: Times New Roman, size: 12, thickness: bold.
  • Paragraph font: Times New Roman, size: 12, thickness: normal.
  • Font for longer quotations, footnotes, and illustration captions: Times New Roman, size: 10, thickness: normal.
  • Alignment: to the left edge of the page.
  • Interline / line spacing: 1.5 a line.
  • Paragraph indentation: none.
  • Numerating in the text: manual. Do not use automatic bulleting or numbering.
  • References and footnotes to be drawn up in accordance with the guidelines.

 

III. Requirements concerning bibliographic footnotes

  1. An Arabic numeral indicates a footnote in superscript, which is placed before the punctuation mark.
  2. Footnotes are placed at the bottom of the page on which the quoted sentence appears.
  3. Footnotes are numbered consecutively.
  4. Footnote format: Footnote number, Author's initials and last name, the title of a source, place of publication and year of publication, Page number.
  5. Titles of books and articles - in italics. Magazine titles - in inverted commas. Titles of documents - in plain writing.
  6. DOI and ORCID numbers (if assigned) should be given.
  7. For reasons of citation index, we do not use the notation "op. cit.", "ibidem" (or their foreign language equivalents).
  8. Another invocation according to the following formula: I. Name, Abbreviated title, p. 2.
  9. When an author's text is not quoted but only summarised, paraphrased or referred to in order to find more information, a footnote may be preceded by the abbreviation: cf.

a) monographs:

if a journal indicates the year as well as the year or the volume, the notation shall apply:

Milczy, Feminizm w sztuce Fridy Kahlo, „Miesięcznik Sztuka”, 4 (2010), p. 15.

if a periodical gives the year as well as the year or volume and the number, the notation shall apply:

Tolońska, Archetypy natury, „Sztuka Czasu”, 46 (2010), no. 2, pp. 7–10.

d) website articles:

Name, Article Title, www.....html [accessed: 1/12/2020].

 

IV. Requirements concerning references

  1. References should be located at the end of the text.
  2. The sources are arranged in alphabetical order.
  3. Descriptions in the bibliography should be prepared according to the standards applicable to footnotes, with two exceptions:
  • In the bibliography, the Author's surname is given first, followed by the initial of their first name.

Bibliography format:

Last name of book author and initial of first name (subsequent authors - if any), Title of book, translation, initial of first name (translator), Last name (translator), Place of publication and Year of publication.

  • In case of articles in collective works or journals and dictionary entries, full page ranges shall be given (as opposed to footnotes, where only the pages referred to are given).

4. If the text is translated, the initials and name of the translator should be given.

V. Requirements for graphic material

  1. Graphic materials should be submitted separately in .jpg, .tif, .eps or .pdf format and, if available, in an open file that allows editing.
  2. Image files containing text should be supplied in a text-editable format (for proofreading and translation).
  3. If no open files are available or submitted in formats that the Publisher's graphic software cannot read, authors will be asked to correct their materials and resubmit them if changes need to be made. If you provide graphic materials that do not meet the above requirements, the graphic designer may ask you to prepare them again.
  4. Graphic materials should have a resolution of 300 dpi; maximum dimensions: width 170 mm, height 230 mm. If graphics are in lower resolution, consider the need for the graphic designer to reduce them (to increase resolution) or lose quality in print.
  5. Graphic material should additionally be placed in a text file in the target areas of the article.
  6. Graphic materials should be described in the text, giving a description of the content and the Author of the graphic file (and the source - if applicable), e.g.:
